SpotLight Member: Carrie / Sparkle Me!

Carrie is a bit shy when it comes to talking about herself! "Ask me about my kids and husband I can go on for days!" says Carrie, and ask we did! Here are some fun facts that we found about our "sparkling" member!
Carrie has been a stay at home mom for 14 years, working as a mortgage processor prior to becoming a mom. Blessed with 2 boys who are heavily involved in sports, and beautiful 4 yr old daughter who acts as a personal secretary! Carrie couldn't stop herself from boasting about her awesome husband who is a business owner as well as a professional MMA fighter holding 9 local titles(last time we checked)!

Carrie took home her own winning title in the Tae Kwon Do Nationals in Las Vegas Nevada!! Our very own Yellow Belt National Tae Kwon Do Champion!

Carrie began started making rhinestone embellished apparel as a result of many long days spent in hot sweaty gyms, dirty baseball fields or freezing on the sidelines of football games. Needing to glam her personal look up, she started by adding a sparkling football helmet & my boys jersey #'s on each sleeve of a sweeter. When another mom commented on how cute it was, Carrie offered to make her one. About 6 months later, Carrie realized this could be a business and created Sparkle Me! in July 2009

Carries work is custom, and while she did upgrade to a professional machine to help her keep up with demand, she still takes great pride in her work and creates each design herself. If you have seen her work - her designs are IMPRESSIVE! She creates custom and semi-custom designs, she can recreate your logo, or even place your website on a window decal for your car! Now that is stepping up the glam for sure!

"My passion is to pay it forward - I love to work with charities & fund raisers." says Carrie. Currently Carrie is doing just that by donating 30% of any purchase made from her Kickin' Cancer's Butt collection of designs! You can request these items on totes, hats, or shirts.

Carrie is currently the Administrative Assistant in our South Denver Chapter!

Don't forget that Carries items are available for purchase online - so anyone, anywhere can enjoy her amazing products!

QR... What?

We constantly are seeing codes that look like this:
But what is this? What is a QR Code? What do you do with it?  And more importantly - what does it do for your business?

What is a QR (Quick Response) Code?

Most of you have probably seen these codes on business windows, business cards, documents and even cars.  For those of you that have no idea what a QR code is - it's a new edition to the business, technological, and marketing world - that is based on two things: convenience & smart phone technology, two things that our society thrives on.
QR Codes take you straight to a website via your phone with just a click of your camera phone.  There are apps that translate these codes straight from the photo taken within the app, or it can take the photo from your photo library.
We no longer have to take the time to write down a website, or type it into our web browser - our smartphone cameras do all the work.
What app do you use?  I personally use the QRReader app that you can find in your app store.  It saves all the sites that are pulled up by scanning the codes so you can keep a record and go back and visit.  Search in your app store for other apps that do the same thing: Reading QRs

Why have this for your business?  As people in business we must evolve with the way society works and what makes them tick.  If your competitor has an easier way to access their site, taking the potential straight to their information, and with less effort - it puts them one step ahead of you. Creating a QR code is simple, easy and the code can be printed anywhere making things more convenient for your potential customers and networking customers.
What can QR codes be created for?  You can make QR Codes for almost anything including: Plain Text, Website URL, Telephone Number, SMS Message, Email Address, Email Message, Contact Details (VCARD), Event (VCALENDAR), Google Maps Location, Wifi Login (Android Only), Paypal Buy Now Link, Social Media(Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), iTunes Links, & YouTube Videos.  The limits are pretty endless.

Where can you create one?  If you google QR Code creator you will find hundreds of sites.  I use : http://www.qrstuff.com/ it's easy to use, you can pick your QR Code Color, and you have one in only moments.
Try out these codes for yourself, to see how QR Codes work.

In addition there are places you can go to "design" your code to have an image inside of it! SUPER awesome! Here is a link from our friends at mashable that talks about how you can add "design" and even logo's  to you code now!

If you need help - please feel free to contact me! I'd be more than happy to help! :)

Once you create your own, feel free to add it to this thread!

Why Cows don't have Arthritis

There’s a Good Reason Cows Don’t Have Arthritis!
I’ll let you in on something else…They don’t have asthma, allergies, gout, colds, flu, indigestion, ulcers, fluid retention, PMS, sinus problems, anemia, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, or acne either!
Now you can avoid these devastating illnesses…just by eating a food that was originally believed to be beneficial only to livestock

Walking briskly around the lake with your neighbor for the first time in years…because you no longer have the crippling pain of arthritis!
Enjoying a camping trip with your family during the height of allergy season…and you haven’t sniffled, snuffled or sneezed once!
Eating jalepino-loaded salsa in your favorite Mexican restaurant…without dreading the inevitable attack of indigestion…because you know it won’t happen this time!
Listening to the astonishment in your doctor’s voice as he tells you that your cholesterol has dropped 50 points since your last visit three months ago!

What’s Different? Just one simple thing…

You’ve started taking Alfalfa!

Alfalfa is an amazing legume that has several vitamins, minerals, and other properties. You can find the following vitamins in alfalfa:
Vitamin A-for night blindness. It builds resistance to infections, especially in the respiratory tract; promotes growth and vitality; promotes healthy skin essential in pregnancy.
Vitamin E-prevents sterility. It is valuable in the treatment of muscular distrophy; prevents calcium deposits in the blood vessels; is used in the treatment of heart conditions; and promotes muscle tone in the body.
Vitamin U-It is used in the treatment of peptic ulcers.
Vitamin B6-aids in food assimilation and in protein and fat metabolism. It prevents various nervous and skin disorders and prevents nausea.
Vitamin K-essential for blood clotting. It is important to liver functions.
Vitamin D-regulates the use of calcium and phosphorus in the body and is, therefore necessary for the proper formation of teeth and bones. Here are the minerals in Alfalfa:
Calcium-builds and maintains bones and teeth; helps clot blood, aids in vitality and endurance; regulates heart rhythm, soothes nerves.Iron-required in the manufacturing of hemoglobin; helps carry oxygen in the blood.
Potassium-necessary for normal muscle tone, nerves, heart action and enzyme reactions; digests fats.
Phosphorous-needed for normal bone and tooth structure. Interrelated with action of calcium and Vitamin D. Improves nutrition of nerve tissue.
Chlorin-cleans and purifies the body, lowers fat sugar and starch metabolism.
Sodium-regulates heat in the body fluids; neutralizes acids, prevetns clotting of blood; stimulates the spleen, excites bowels and stomach to greater action.Silicon Magnesium-aids in constipation, steadies the nerves, protective to skin and body, stimulates the brain.
Other properties of Alfalfa:
High in protein-Alfalfa has 18.9% as compared to beef 16.5%, milk 3.3% and eggs 13.1%. Muscles are composed of protein and the lack of it results in fatigue and weakness. It’s deep roots seek out minerals in the subsoil which are inaccessible to other plants. The average Alfalfa plant has roots 10-20 feet long.
Just by taking a few little Alfalfa tablets every day, starting right now you can:
  • Look and feel years younger

What's New? Wanelo

I wanted to share a website that I was introduced to yesterday that I have become pretty smitten with. It's called Wanelo.

Named after "want" "need" "love" it's similar to Pinterest, however, it's more of a purchasing site. I am seriously loving it right now! It's a great way to promote online shops and products, and it's a great way to promote others!

Don't get me wrong - I love Pinterest, it's addicting and it's fun - but when it comes to people purchasing from it? Eh, to me it's more for the DIYer and the Dreamers, and those who want to be inspired.  Which is great for all of us, not always so great as the Shop Owner. The gal that introduced me to the site had tweeted she didn't like her stuff on Pinterest because she has a patent on her products and she hates seeing her stuff on "I Can Make This!" Or "DIY" boards since she carries all rights to them.  I see her point.

So I wandered over to Wanelo and found it to be just as addicting but like I mentioned before, it's solely for products - the best part - it always links back to the person who "Posted" it and gives you two options "Save It" posting it to your Wanelo Board or "Buy It" which takes you directly to where you can purchase it.

What's not to love?!  Perfect for finding new products and for Promoting & Marketing your own (and I use it to promote the A-List, as well.)  It's truly an awesome site!

If you end up finding yourself on Wanelo - lets connect! :)
